My Noob Question Thread

Recommended Posts

Ok this is my first post on this forum so ill try to not sound like a complete noob but i kinda am because this will be the first time i mess with more that 1200 watts. So ill call this my Noob Question thread so that when ever i have a noob Question i can come back to this instead of starting a new thread. So anyways here goes my first question. Ok i plan on buying a 18 btl but i want to buy all the things ill need b4 buy the sub like the amp, H.O. Alt, wires, and exct. So the first thing on my list will be the amp. Now im kinda a Rockford fan boy so i wana go with the t2500-1bd, and i was wondering if this will be enuff power for this monster of a sub. O and ill use if for is daily usage, and shoving it down my friends throat cuz his always been louder than me but not this time. And for my second noob ? if that amp is suffice will a 225 amp Alt be enough to push it or will i need to go higher, o and i almost forgot i plan on putting this in an 01 impala and im working 2 jobs now so i can have all in 2 to 3 months. So please some of you experts let me know what i think i need knowledge

2500 watts will be plenty for the sub. A 225 amp alternator will be fine, too. You'll also want an extra battery.

A great 'bang for your buck' battery is the Deka Intimidator. If you want to spend some more money, definitely go look at Powermaster's batteries.

The mic will be the only thing that senses that power difference. Theoretically you'll only be losing like .5 of a db.

.5's not bad at all but while were on the subject. I know that there's no way anybody can give me any exact numbers. But how high would anyone guess I could do with this set up and anybody think its be realistic to ever put up a 147 or even 150 with just one 18inch btl?

off of about 2,500w, you should be able to break a 150 with some "know-how", nothing crazy.

Wow you really think I could break 150. I saw a guy with 8 12in type rs and like two t2000's and he only did a 146 and what do you think about the t2000 bcuz I think that's what I AM A get because its only 550 do you think its putting out close to 2500. Let me know what you think give me some tips I'm really trying to expand my learning.

Well, lets look at what i'm basin it on-

i've seen 2 18s and 5,000w of power do a 154.6

I've seen a single 15 and 4,000w of power do a 150.2

I've seen 2 12s and 3,000w of power do a 148.0

A single 18 and about 2,500w of power should be able to. but it also must be designed for comp use as well. I would assume to expect 147s, maybe 148s for music.

if you want to save a couple bucks and get the same power and reliability as the rockford amps you described you could keep it in-house and shop at ssa, this is a killer deal and a lot of power for a beginner system:

http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/zencart...products_id=151

ooo i like but hows the warranty, and ive read alot about them but never seen or herd what they can do, and are they bench tested and how much do you think they are really putting out(srry ive got a lot of questions) how power hungry are they o and to kinda end this post any expected date of release cuz ill have the money for a amp on Friday.

I think you will beat him, but not by much...you need dynamat and lots of reserve capacity along with your alternator and wires and etc you then will be loud. you will do 145 right off the bat without tons of money poured into it. Remember this is one 18 you will have and what box and tuning will be done?

I have spent countless, And I mean countless hours researching my next amp. Sundown is one of the very top on my list. My reasoning is

1. Everyone says customer service is second to none

2. I've seen the termlab numbers and benchtests for them and was impressed.

3. Jake is the easiest owner I have ever seen to get a hold of.

4. He has some great programs for his customers. The after warranty repair deals he gives etc.

5. Those amps hold crazy retail value. I think that is the best sign of a good product.

hey guys i got an idea what about to hifonics bxi2010's strapped

I think you would be much better off with the Rockford, if not the sundown, if you're going to abuse them in competitions.
