Get loud AND sound good?

Recommended Posts

My neighbor recently got a 2003 acura tl type s and want's a system. so far he's picked up

kenwood dnx 9140

morel tempo 6

mb quart dsc 2150 ( does 150x2@4 ohm)

kinetik hc800 for upfront

2 rolls of rammat bxt for doors, trunk lid, floor, and rear deck.

He picked up a sundown 3000d locally but it didn't fit on the seat back so he sold it.

Considering 2 amps and possibly a battery in the back we'll have about 4-4.5 cubes net to work with.

Trunk dimensions are

Width=30

Depth=25

Height=15

Guy has the most diverse taste ever. One minute he can be listening to Jeezy the next he's listening to Sade or Tiesto. Since im a noob myself i didn't know what to recommend him.

Budget is 700 for 1 or 2 subs. amp will be decided on once he picks a sub.

XCON 15" sealed in as much space as you can give it. With about 1500w.

x2, go ahead and get the SSA 15" XCON and Sundown SAZ-1500D combo at the store.

the 15 wouldn't choke in 4 cubes?

Denim will probably chime in but he recommended 2.25-2.75 cubes to me for the 15. I went with 2.75. Still got to wait just a lil bit longer to install though.

Hmm...if that's the case then why not ported?

I don't really care about deebeez or being louder than the next guy. I'm personally leaning toward SQ rather than SPL. I figured if I didn't like sealed, I'd switch to ported, but I think its gonna be juuust fine for me. :)

Soundstream SPL 160, if you can find one, in 1.5 cubes.

css? i told him about the w7 but he wants to be different and not run jl audio.

would the idmax get loud enough for a single sub setup?

is he getting a high output alternator?

If he isn't, don't let him install anything over ~2000w regardless how many batts he has in the back.

An Xcon would probably be perfect for this scenario as mentioned before, plus he will save money on subs by purchasing one.

We were gonna see how the electrical would hold up with the big 3 and 2 batteries. he'll purchase one if its needed.

would 2 12' xcons work in 4.5? or 1 15 ported?

according to him he wants a "ground pounder" that'll sound good with any music he throws at it.

I've never heared the Xcon, but I will do it soon, soon!!

The 15 Xcon combo must be really good for a "groundpounder".

But I can say that the 15 Icon in a 4 ft3 ported box with a Sundown 1000 amp is a very good deal: I love it in my car:)

I will not win SPL comps (who knows?!!!), but it sounds sooooo good, and it "pounds" too !!!

If you have the budget and the electrical system, why not try the Xcon?

Good luck!
