i dunno but if you ask a lot of pple anywhere in the car audio forums they will tell you that if you MUST have rear fill, get some cheap yet good coaxes (CDT's), and spend the majority of the money on the amp and comps.

errm... i dont have rear fill in my car and i dont miss it whatsoever!!

but for 400 dollars, you can get the comps and amp no problem.

yup!! IMO if youve got a great front stage, you can hear it fine in the back seat of the car and it wont be drowned out by the bass!!!

er do wat? leave out the rear fill?

actually with a 400 budget, you can get a nice set of Comps for 250 or so and spend the rest on a okay-nice 2 channel amp!

With a decent set of components with a decent install (IB w/deadening -or- sealed), You prolly wont need rear speakers... depending on Your tastes.

I tend to go with components IB up front running higher power (100-200 wrms) High passed (pre-xover) ~120hz. Then rear midbass woofers IB or sealed in the rear ~80-120 rms bandpassed ~50-150 hz.

IMO, strong, supporting midbass will bring the music to life. Particularly jazz, country, rock, and higher vocal music. I also dont like my midrange (component woofer) drivers being slowed down -or- muddied by the lower midbass frequencies.

$0.02

I had the CDT HD62's in my explorer with 75 watts they were enough to fill the car. I had rear speakers that I would fade back to when I had passengers in the back, but that was their only use. You want your soundstage to be infront of you as opposed to behind you or centered within the car. Think of a concert.

I hate being one of those people who see a thread and try and sell you something but I happen to have a pair of focal mids and x-overs, no tweets though. I will get pics if you are interested.

chinny,

I sent you an e-mail about some Rainbow speakers.

But, didn't pay enough attention and recommended some 6.5" components. But if you e-mail Jason he also had 5.25" Contours and Soundlines.

Sorry for my screw-up!
