Wanted Opinion Mayehm or Xcon

Recommended Posts

I am trying to decide which way to go I know both company and subs are of the best quality just can't decide. So I'm coming to great group of guys for help. I will be running a BC5500 and I want four 15. I want loud but clean. I've had a sundown nightshade z 18, a dd9515, skar vvx 15s just to give you some of the other systems I've ran. I like the dd9515 control and loudness but nothing rocked the jeep like the nightshade but it missed alot of notes. I want the love child of this two subs. Thanks for your advice.

I don't think you can make vs thread.

Both are fantastic products.

Brick & Mortar markup vs Internet pricing. Hmmm.

The XCON isn't quite on the same level as the Mayhem, look at the ZCON instead.

Just something to add: the nightshades didn't miss any notes. Perhaps the end frequency response was different then desired.

I loved the mayhem 15's i had before.. I loved them! They can take quite a bit of power and not sound bad if you do things right. Box tunning/size, power, etc will all play a big roll in what you will get from both subs.Mayhem is on a diferent level though.

The missing notes were more than likely due to your enclosure/install.

My Nightshade 12's were quite smooth tuned to 35 Hz. in 2 cubes each. I assume the application was at fault as the equipment is very capable.

Are the mayhems rate the same as the xcon?

The Mayhem is conservatively rated at 2500 watts.

Yeah, that doesn't seem like a fair comparison to me.

One is a high power SQ biased sub, the other is a even higher power high output sub.
