Sean,

Why such big rims? Isn't the damn thing 4 wheel drive?

J

I really want 40 series tires, but have to pick between 35 and 45. sad.png No way I am doing 26's but it is hard to find pictures of smaller ones...

His truck would be a mess on anything but roads I think, based on his upgrades.

AWD for him is only for the driveway I bet.

24" wouldn't be horrible.

Valid points. I kno mine came stock with 18" rims and a option for 20". I have looked at rims for mine, but noting screamed out 'buy me'.

J

Mine stock have 22's...

Stock is never big enough, but I don't want 24's either. Wish 23's were more prevalent. I'd do that for sure.

Will be 285's in the front and 305's in the rear.

35 series rear, 40's series fronts on 24

Which I've talked myself into acting like 40 series on both axles since the sidewall is the "same"

20's won't clear my brakes

AMusingly it is currently suspended softer than a Ford Explorer Sport, but also handles as well. I am sure adding some Nitto's in 285/305 will only improve the handling at some cost on ride quality.

Currently running on 285/45/22

Sidewall height would go from 5.05" to 4.2"

Sidewall height on my M5 was 3.8"

I would like it a bit more sporty feeling than it is now.

I am also having a hard time buying new wheels that aren't a different size. I've done it before, but boo.

Need 2 sets of wheels...was going to run the stockers, but since they are shot they won't even make good winter wheels sad.png

Winters have to be NOT chrome and cheaper...although nothing is super cheap when that big.

Actually, it's too little tire. No sidewall deflection sucks donkey balls. That's why my Town Car is sittin on 17s fo life!

I'd image your 5.3" sidewalls are acting about like my 5.05".

4500lbs vs 6000lbs

truck sidewall strength versus car

285 vs 225

Am I nuts?

I'm actually really frightened of 24's, but want less tire roll in the corners. You can feel them currently limit high speed turning. I mean no shit its retardedly heavy.

And no way the Lincoln is optimized for turning...

Nor should my truck, but I'm trying my best to con myself into something.

My turning radius is half a block. It's actually not that bad, but I drive like an old man in that thing. There's just no point in aattempting anything with any speed.

Exactly. Not that anyone should be saying anything different about my truck but well I am.

Never seen one in the right size. Also not sure you can beat the Nitto in that size even if it was.

Looks like the Ziex does in the 305 but not the 285

There are only a couple with the right profile....that and the Nitto is a better tire anyways.

Reason why I asked ...I should have a old drive somewhere with the order receipt from where I purchased my 22" for my durango...don't remember the ebay seller off hand, but it should be on the order receipt...was a great seller and for around $1800.00,They came with Falken ziex tires included...mounted,balanced,locks and lugs...and black inserts and free shipping by fed ex...I was impressed for the price!
