Awesome find for a fiero fanatic

Recommended Posts

Last friday on my way home on 460 west, right at loud n clear or whatever the audio shop is, i spotted a ferrari. Of course i knew this couldn't be a ferrari in princeton, must be a mera. Turned the stratus around and stopped to talk to the guy, asked him if it was a mera and he seemed shocked i even knew what a mera was. Anyyyway the car was in excellent shape for its age (20 years) but definately needed some TLC, i asked if i could take some pics, he said it would be fine, he had just had the interior redone (nicely) and said he was getting a sound system put in it. (i wish he would bring it over and let me and dave do it right beside the BMW)

anyway..pics

What is a mera ?

A Ferrari wannabe Fiero. :wacky:

Not really my cup of tea, but a stunning example of craftsmanship.

the difference between this car and the ones like the lambos is that these you actually bought this way, Its not a kit car, it was a factory option.

"The MERA was not endorsed by GM but was a Pontiac dealer option similar to that of ordering a conversion van. 1988 MERAs sold for (depending on options -- MERA and Pontiac) for about $24,000 to $28,000. At the time this price range was not much less than a Corvette."

total production was around 250

damn dissapearing posts...it'll probably show up in a random post...anyway, what i said was it still had the 2.8v-6 and the fiero interior for the most part, not fast, just a fun car, mildly unique?

With a motor swap they can be serious beasts too. Front end swap isn't the worst idea either but pretty cool nonetheless.

the huge ability to mod them is nice too, just about any gm engine will fit in there,

mkay, what is the most displacement you can get out of a small block? 420ci?

Or just cram 14psi down a 350 stroked to a 383 through twin T3 turbos :69:

A blown lighter engine would be even better IMO, putting something so massive in such a little car may make it rock on the strip but would take some of the fun out of driving anywhere else.

the ecotec swap with battery relocated to the front of the car makes for almost perfect 50/50

300hp would be plenty for that car.
