Sundown Entry Level Woofer

Recommended Posts

ill have to check my funds... but i think ill be a fuggin fool not to pick atleast 2 up for 100 each shipped..... how about some more pics!?

Production hasn't started - and I would do an intro sale, rather than a pre-order, so you would have plenty of time to get some money together.

Specs w/ Coils in series - D4 nominal coils.

Sealed box specs:

1.5 ft^3 = 0.707 Qtc = 50 Hz F3

1.0 ft^3 = 0.798 Qtc = 52 Hz F3

Ported box specs:

2.5 ft^3 tuned to 30 Hz = 27.5 Hz F3 (flat response)

The E12 was also tested in Sean Belangers truck. It sat in a 0.5 ft^3 sealed box inside of Sean's wall, inverse mounted.

SPL Results as follows:

17.7 watts @ 133.2 dB

33.9 watts @ 135.9 dB

66.5 watts @ 138.8 dB

120.4 watts @ 141.3 dB

236.7 watts @ 143.7 dB

448 watts @ 145.1 dB

765 watts @ 146.2 dB

999 watts @ 146.3 dB

1399 watts @ 147.2 dB

1886 watts @ 147.2 dB

The motor started at 75.5 degrees and ended at 82 degrees after the testing.

Now... we ran a 60 second burp on a 74 Hz sine wave @ 450 watts.

The motor went from 82 to 84 degrees... so it'll take thermal abuse!

Over 140db in a sealed box with 1 12''? Is this right?

Yes, that was with the driver that this thread was originally about - which will be called the A12 when released (was to be the E12 originally, but plans for E line changed).

The E12, what we are now talking about, is a different driver (as pictured on this page).

In any event... yes, the box was technically sealed. But... it's sitting inside that wall and it makes a 4th order band-pass, the sealed box is like a tiny back chamber and the wall is like a huge front chamber. The main focus of the testing was to find where power compression occurred and to abuse test it.

Since we have drifted off and now we are talking about a different sub I'm going to close this thread and make one for the E12 as it is now :)

Whenever the A12 is ready I'll make another for it as well.
