Anyone have experience with Audiocontrol

Recommended Posts

I am currently looking into the three.1 from audiocontrol

http://www.mobileaudiocontrol.com/product....roduct_Id=14149

I was hoping someone with more in-depth tech knowledge could educate me on if this product is worth my while...

I have

Alpine 9857

1 SS Rubicon 502 100 watts x 2 running my front comps (A/D/S 6-1/2" 346cs)

2 Us Amps MD.1D for my subs....

I am looking to get another amp to toss my A/D/S passive crossovers and run active...

If the three.1 from AC isn't gonna fit the bill what would you all recommend

I'm not going for competition SQ or anything just what a nice sounding daily beater that sounds pretty darn good to the ear....

I had a 4.1, loved it. But once I upgraded to a higher end Eclipse I did not need the 4.1. I loved having the instant turn knob control of certain bands and tuning.

I can't see the specs, but it looks to me like that is a subwoofer crossover and not a replacement for passives.

Personally I'd highly recommend using a headunit to run passive. If not either a Coustic XM-7 or DX-28 would be a logical choice.

All that and it still doesn't state the crossover frequencies. To me it still sounds like the whole crossover might go to 300hz which would not let you run active, well I guess it would let you cross a sub over actively to a set of components that still needed the passive crossovers. Without confirming what they are I'd beware. Getting a different headunit is a great solution though.

It still doesn't list that it is a crossover for anything other than a sub. If you don't find a list of available crossover frequencies I would consider it a completely useless hunk of metal. I really, really doubt it does. I have never seen anyone say they were using one as a crossover and am rather keen on reading about active setups.

That PPI piece that Scott linked you to is nice btw.
