I'm curious how you mounted the tweeters in the kick panels.

I kinda want to do the same. ;)

Actually, it's very simple. I just took a hole saw and drilled through. Make sure to either do it above the tabs (on the back side) or centered between them. I actually had to bow the panel with my arm a bit while I screwed on the mounting nut. But it fits, just barely. Need pics?

Hopefully I can do it when I remount my speakers with the brackets your sending me. fing05.gif

Sorry, I meant to get those out to you on Thursday. Went to the shipping place and realized I'd forgotten your address. Had to run out to VA on Friday to our colocation facility, never had a chance. I promise those will get out on Monday.

Pics coming tonight.

I've got a bunch of chit to do on the 4Runner. Jacob shipped me the new SAZ-1500D this week. I got the Kicker PKD1 kit with 1/0 for the amp. I need to run the speaker wires correctly for the new tweeter placement in the kicks. I picked up some carpet and spray adhesive yesterday to finish off the sub box. And EmporerJJ1 shipped me an EQL that I should have by Tuesday.

:ohsnap:

As always, I'll try to grab some pics along the way.

Started re-routing the speaker wire to the tweeters, then realized I never got around to installing deadener in the driver's side door. Afterwards, I fixed the wiring and took a few pics. I don't think I've shown off the new HU since I installed it. I love the user interface but the sound is not quite there yet. Can't wait to get the EQL this week.

Pics of the kick panel at the end.

New pics and video. I've gone back to the Pioneer DEH-P5900IB receiver after wrestling with the lack of good EQ features in the Alpine IDA-X001. I've also finished running the 1/0 to the Sundown Audio SAZ-1500D, and have rerouted the 4-gauge directly to the SAX-100.4 powering the front stage. Although the sealed box doesn't have the "rattle power" of the T-Box, the sound is excellent and the excursion is sick. See for yourself...

A nice day in Maryland...

I've finally started working on an enclosure for the TC Sounds 12" subwoofer I bought earlier this year. Thanks to denim's help I have a box design that should work well for this driver. Here are some of the pics from my workshop tonight...

The grand vision:

Great install. I have yet to hear an RL-i8 and that makes me kind of sad. lol

But the TC Sounds sub should be good stuff. I had a TC-1000 and I think it is pretty similar to what you have. It was a great sub.

Keep updates on how everything else turns out.

Assembled most of the box this evening. The double baffle is strong as hell, but I went ahead and cut out some small supports for bracing. I'm pleased with the progress so far. I should be able to wind things up tomorrow night. Just need to glue/screw the bracing in place, mount the last wall, and cut a terminal recess for the bolts.

Look familiar? :)

And a quick shot of the dry-fitted bracing. I cut a dado on each to take advantage of the port wall for extra support.

Not much to report tonight. I had a bad night as far as assembly goes. Really sloppy work (for my standards), although I don't know if you can tell from the picture. I finally just had to stop myself for the evening and come up to crash. I'll finish up the terminals tomorrow night and wire it up for the test run.

Finished up the box tonight. Added the ghetto terminal posts and sealed them up with silicone. Swapped out the sealed box and hooked it up to the SAZ-1500D.

Holy chit.

I can't get over how this thing hits. I guess this is what a 12" subwoofer feels like. No disrespect to my RL-i8's; they're fantastic drivers for SQ. But this is just sick. I only had the volume turned up about 1/3 and the roof was shaking. I guess you could say my SPL cherry has been busted. I can't wait to get some video tomorrow.

Here's a couple quick shots of the posts. I need to get some ring terminals to do this right.

Got a short video today. Not very good, I'll try to get something else tomorrow. Any recommendations on songs to demo? :)

Met denim today to pick up my new 12" ICON D1. Didn't bother taking pictures, everyone has seen them. Swapped it in for the closeout TC Sounds 12" aluminum I picked up a while back.

ZOMG, that sub hits low. Admittedly, my other subs are the TC 12" and a pair of RL-i8's, so I have little to compare with. But even with the volume only around 33% (everyone is sleeping), I could tell a huge difference from the others. I'm really looking forward to taking this out tomorrow and having a little fun breaking it in. I'll be sure to take videos.

:bigclap:

Why did you leave the Alpine? Does your Pioneer have the RCA problem?

Not at all. I adore the Alpine's interface and it sounds great, but my ears prefer something about the Pioneer. I seem to be in the minority but they say to trust your ears. I still have the Alpine boxed up. Need to eBay it or something.
