Individual comps for a 3way active setup

With a budget of $600 what individual comps would you order from Madisound to fill out your system. Your size choices are limited to 7inches for the woofer, 4 inch mid and 1 inch for the tweeter.

I'm thinking about a Peerles SLS 6.5 or a Mach5 MLI as far as midbass goes.

No possibility to fit an 8 in there ?

I wanted to add more to the original post but the wifi where I was kept dropping me or was taking 2-3 minutes to load a page. So the question is: If buying all individual component speakers to make up a SQ 3 way active systems front stage and give a $600 budget what would you buy to fit in a 7 inch woofer, 4 inch mid and a 1 inch tweeter. There maybe just enough room to fit an 8" woofer instead of the 7" so if you have an option or opinion on that size please offer it. This is also an almost perfect world so depth is not an issue unless something way out of left field.

I have a 3 way front stage at the moment but I only have about 175 bucks in it. Two Mpyre 6.5 midbass, two dayton RS100 midrange, and two north creek D25 tweeters

I can fit everything in the doors but will probably go with the tweeter in the A pillar just to get it up closer to ear level.

As far as processing goes I am thinking about the Zapco DSP6-SL unless I go with the Zapco DC amps in which case I wouldnt need it but would go with just the indash controller hooked to the zapco amps. I am hoping Zed comes out with the new line very soon but may pick up the Dsp6-sl and couple of SAX-100.4. Presale price is hard to pass on. Alpine 701 remains the fallback.

The vehicle is a 08 Mazda MX-5PRHT aka Miata Hardtop.

Why wouldnt I want the mids in the door. While I have a spot in the dash for a 5 1/2 its a single spot in the middle of the dash that holds the factory bose systems sub and fires right into the windshield.

Aftermarket is better than Bose. You need to find a different place, cause that spot is made EXACTLY for that Bose sub.

Yea the Bose system is crap and I was not planning on using the spot where the bose sub is unless for some reason in the future I need to spend time in my car watching dvd's(maybe my girlfriend is really pissed) and I want a center channel to enjoy a good movie while sitting in the car in the garage. Not very likely, needing the center channel that is, girlfirend being mad at me is a forgone conclusion.

Check out the Dayton references from Parts Express, I have used many of the 4ohm ones for car audio. They are pretty much the best bang for the buck you can get anywhere right now. The measure and sound really good, and if you are going active, that takes alot of the headache of designing a passive away. It isn't that designing a passive is real hard (not saying it is easy), but I think for a 3-way, an active would be nice.

I would just try and have the mid and tweeter as close to each other as possible and as on-axis with you at your listening position as posible, if they are going to be way off axis, make sure and look at the off-axis Fr plots if you can, this may change your driver choice, some drivers behave completely different than others off-axis.

I wouldn't worry about impedance of the idividual drivers too much, especially since you will have 6 channels of power and easily adjustable level control, just don't get hung up on this here I guess is what I am saying. Just find the drivers that look the best for your application and go with it...

If it was my car, I'd be seriously considering going with a SLS & a 2" or a really good 3" full range in the dash or just your more "normal" midbass/midrange & tweeter 2 way combo. You don't have that much room to use in the cabin to be putting speakers everywhere.

I really dont see any way of getting the mids in the dash, just not any room to give them any kind of seperation. The kicks are a possibility but that would mean putting my tweeters very low as well if I am trying to keep the tweeters and the mids close to one another and as close to on the same axis.

As far as what music do I listen to its all over the place 70's to current rock so Eagles to Daughtry, I also like spanish guitar and celtic folk music, Older R&B, Jazz and Blues. 20 string celtic guitar to the b-52.

For some reason I can't see any of the pictures from the diyma thread but in reading it they are dealing with the 2nd generation Miata and mine is the 3rd generation and neither is a hard top. One of them is also in the Dallas area so I might just see if I can contact him and get a look at the car. There are options and as one of the team hybrid guys reminded me its all about how much I am willing to work/spend to make what I want happen. I know I am going to have to do alot of playing around with the speaker locations I do have to find something thats actually going to work. I am set on getting a three way system installed.
