Big Dave's Truck Project

Recommended Posts

Ok, so this guy from Calgary ordered up some subs a little over a year ago for his home theatre setup. A little over a month ago, he phones me again telling me they aren't enough. We start sharing info and I find out he was the Canadian car audio champion back in the early 90's.

So after a 17+ year hiatus, it just so happens that Big Dave is planning to get back into the car audio scene once again. He calls himself 'Big Dave' for just reason - he's bigger than me and has that deep, husky voice you can only associate with men of larger stature.

Eight IXL-12's, four MLI-65's and a 2000 Ford F250 bought primarily for car audio, this should be a very interesting build. He's also into a lot of customizing (read fiberglassing, totally modding of stock environment, etc. etc.)

Here's a shot of his trophy "army" with the car that made it all happen - circa early 90's.

That's awesome. I wish I could find a nice, clean CRX Si someday.

Yup, he's finalizing his HT setup, which is over the edge too! Six MJ-18's and two IXL-18's for low end and mid-bass. I wish I was there to witness the whole thing. I asked him to take a few snaps of the setup - hopefully he will follow through..

Are you saying he is using MJ's for mid bass?

From ~30Hz up to whatever his fronts can handle. The IXL's will handle the extreme low end.

I'm hoping Dave will chime in at some point...

*** Update - Nov 20, 2008 ***

So Dave received the rest of his equipment and followed through with a few pictures:

Subs with JL comps

Rockford amps with a vintage Grimm Reaper

Processors, mids and tweeters - the cap I believe is more for show than anything

Its been awhile, but certainly not Dave's fault. He's been working hard and sending me pictures. I've just been too lazy to post them

Here's more shots in no specific order. That's a lot of work!:

Here's a shot of Dave on his award winning bike. Folks call him Big Dave since he's well, pretty big.
