So back to work.

I rounded over the port and applied liquid nails to the inside seams. I am going to run to HD and grab another much needed clamp, wood filler, and lots of flat black paint. :) This box seems to take forever to finish.

I need a good saw in the worst way. Maybe one day. This one won't cut straight of a proper 45 to save its life.

Thanks, me too. Looks like we are having company and the hood is doing luminaries. So it is time to eat and walk with friends and enjoy a beer. :) More tomorrow. I work early, so I will have time to continue when I get home.

So here is one of the install in progress. I am working 2 jobs right now, thus the slow progress. I need to get some great stuff and fill all the little gaps and mount the drivers/amps/etc. Hopefully tomorrow.

The top, sides and bottom are as close as I could get them to being flushed. The foam will have to do the rest. No cutting btw.

Solid looking box, what did you spray the box with. I like the dull black look

Thanks, I learn something every time I build. I really enjoy it. I used .98cent flat black rattle car spray paint from Home Depot. the cheapest stuff they had. Used it the first time and liked the outcome.

Wow, dude. You did a helluva job with all that deadener. That looks like a $1k worth too. I cant believe after all that, you still get that much vibration. Crazy. Good job though man. This looks really good.

if you used the right techniques to sound deadening, you probably won't be wasting 1k on deadening. Check out the techniques at sounddeadenershowdown.com

It did exactly what I wanted it to do. So I really don't think it was a waste. Sound deadener showdown was a good resource I used when making my purchases.

Uploading some short videos I was able to get before the neighbors got involved. I never play music at my house. But I guess a 30 second video was too much. I am kinda irritated because they one guy that stared me down always blasts his music on the rear deck and from inside his home and I never say anything about it. Oh well.

I hate hypocrites, dont do something then frown upon me for doing the same thing. He is probably just made how your car has more bass than his house.

I have lived here 3 years and he is the only neighbor that hasn't come to say hi and/or participate in any of the festivities in the neighborhood. Just a grouch I think.

Man these videos are taking forever. :P

This is obviously chopped and screwed. Normal stuff is actually much more violent inside the car, just not as much movement outside. My goal was to stop the tears in the sheet metal caused by my Q's and the continuation of the tears by the Havoc's. My trunk doesn't move an inch. At lower volumes, even with the trunk open, you can't hear bass at all. :) Yay.

Did you seal off your rear deck as well?

It looks like your subs aren't recessed anymore but in a previous picture they were, did you redo the baffle or something?

Yes, I completely sealed off the trunk, including the rear deck with 1/2" mdf where the stock Bose subwoofer mounted and deadened the rest. I used 1/2" mdf to make the initial flush mounts for the box and then used expanding foam for the small gaps around the box from the trunk.

The subs were recessed in the first box. The second box just has a double baffle with no countersink for the subs.

Nice! I'm planning on doing subs/port forward in my car too and initially wanted to flush mount them in the opening behind the seat but that's proven to be more of a hassle than it's worth so it's looking like i'm gonna end up doing it pretty much like you did.

Thanks! It is plenty loud enough for me. My roof needs attention now. A weld or something broke between the windshield and the sunroof. :)

It was really pretty easy once the procrastination stopped. I would have loved to do it flush like you wanted to, but my shock towers are too close together. So I just used lots of expanding foam to fill the gaps. Seems to be doing exactly what I wanted.

Did you have a part in this design? I know someone did, just never knew who. :D

Optima YT 34/78 under the hood, second Optima YT G31 in the spare tire well, Big 3 in 0gauge between the two batteries. When this alt dies, I will address that when I need to.

14" x 40" x 22"

4cf tuned to 32Hz. I got rid of the flush mount( wish I would have just cut the extra sheet). I also added two 45's inside the box to see if it really makes a difference. I still need to meter it to see if it did or not. This car does poorly on the meter. Always has.

Bass > Sunroof

Indeed it does. I went through 6 rear view mirrors before I just gave up. Haven't had rear view or sunroof controls for 5 years now. lol
