Fi comparison

Recommended Posts

Hey I was just wondering, which pair of subwoofers would hit louder on the same power, 2 12" BLs or 2 12" Alpine Type X's. any input would be appreciated, so long as it isn't fanboyish, if that makes sense.

Install Dependant. we cannot tell you.

the bl's will handle around 1500 watts fully loaded

the type x's handle around 1000

I loved my BL and im glad i made the switch from mainstream to nonmainstream woofers and amplifiers.

Well i'm running on a powerbass ASA 1500.1Dx, 4 awg wire, shuriken battery in the back. its a 2000 ford taurus so I have a lot of trunk space and i would get a custom box. I've currently got 2 10" type R's, but ill have to upgrade eventually because they are being overpowered and i am trying to decide which way to go

I would go with the BL's but it all depends on the install. I have never been a big fan of Alpine woofers

the alpine type x's are more Sqishh. The Fi bl's will be louder just probably not that clean. But if you wan't sq go with the Fi Q's

Yeah i was thinking that because mine is pretty loud with my type r's but its also hella clean, even with my stock deck. ive been in cars that are as loud as mine but sound dirty and i dont like it. are type x's loud? and how clean are bl's? i can get both subs for about the same price, the bl's being a litte more expensive

I've been pretty happy with the r's. what do you like about the BL's, and what don't you like about alpines?

I prefer the BL's over the type x's because of the output BL's. I have never heard the type r's in person but as far as the type x's they sound pretty clean but the output is not really there. Maybe i should have said I'm not a big fan of the Alpine type x woofers instead of making a general statement about all of their lines

why not first just try out a single BL? and then go on from there....who knows maybe a single BL will be loud enough for you....

The Fi is louder and it still delivers great SQ in the right box....

If your looking for sq go for the Q

I have 2 12inch bl's not broken in yet and their amazing sounding on sq switching from two (12)rockford fosgate p1's. Bass is bass bro depends on your box and what you tune the box to. Takes a little bit of gain sense also when tuning your amp!!!! People say the "Q" driver is sq driver which it is but the bl doesnt sound like a turd flushing down the toilet its top quality built also. Only really big thing the "Q" has on the bl is xmax, They say better the xmax the louder the lows are at higher volume's but its all on your box and tuning!!! WHICH all comes down to the instal! BOTH bA nasty drivers when it comes down to it.

Ok..then the bl has more motor strengh then the q and lots other things that differ between the series of woofers.

Whats your input/opinion on this then duran.

I never stated anything about spl just talking about being louder on the ears not a spl meter... Never said directly better the xmax better lows just said "They say" as in it could be or not be true then finished my statement with a conclusion ending up saying it all depends on your box and tuning(Revolves back to Instal) just trying to state some variables in his setup not no definent reason!

It's similar, your ears don't care what xmax your drivers are, yes low end extension is increased because the woofers displace more air, but it's really not significant in most cases.

Thanks, what do type x's sound like? in comparison to type r and bl? does the bl hit you in the chest?

I've owned (2) 12" Type R's and it slammed for 500wrms a piece. If i remember correctly the Type X's are more on the SQ side then the Type R's, but the X's are suppose to be "louder" then the R's. So therefore, a really good ""SQL"" speaker.

With FI if you want SQ get the Q's, BL ( in my mind ) is the BTL little brother.

If it were me.. i'd do some reading and decide. BUT right now, i'd say BL all the way.

Note: I am a huge /////Alpine fan.

Hey, I was just wondering which would be louder in a custom ported box at the same power, 2 12" Fi Q's, or 2 12" Alpine Type-X's

depends on the boxs for each bruh...but i have heard the x and the q.....the x that i heard was not a low as the q that i heard.....also the q is cleaner.......as far as how loud....i did not see them on the termlab but they seem to be about the same......i would go with the q all the way....1 its a fi product and when it comes to subs they kill alpine....and 2 if you ask me the only things alpine makes well are full range and amps...

Thanks. How about BL's? How much louder is the BL than the Q, and how much cleaner is the Q? Which would you rather have?
