is this a good box for the 12" BTL?

Recommended Posts

I found this box on woofersetc.com

the dimensions are:

* 12" Single Ported Box

* Height: 15"

* Width: 30.5"

* Depth: 15"

* Mounting Depth: 11"

* 3/4" MDF Construction

* Volume: 3.00 cu. ft.

And I wanted to know if this would be a good box

for the fully loaded 12" BTL sub?

Thanks for any responses.

That tells you nothing about the port..or tuning..

How about get one of the guys on the board here to build you a box?

3.05 cubes gross, port displacement is 0.64, sub displacement is like .21 or something IIRC. So 2.2 cubes net, and tuning frequency is about 31 hz. Not too terrible.

Is it a pre-fab box?

Why spend ~$400 on a sub just to throw it in a $75 box? For ~$200 or less I'm sure there is someone on this forum that will build you a box for that beast. I used to use pre-fab Obcon/RT Boxes, they are probably the best pre-fab box you can buy and after getting iamamp3pimp to build my first custom box I will NEVER go back to pre-fab. A systems performance is 90% install and install is 90% box. You can take a Sony Xplod and put it in a well built 4th order and make it sound great. Just my $.02.
