Team Flex Issues and A IAK member doin it right

Recommended Posts

It's the morning after our 1st show as host for a 2 x Meca event and I'm sore all over. The event was a HUGE success we had over 50 SPL competitors with the majority of that number running both park and pound and spl. Success didn't come easy we as a team promoted the event at no less than 40 shops, 4-5 Forums, Craigslist, Facebook, and sought radio support too. There were also 5-6 sound quality cars too along with 1 Meca Kids power wheels.

When I was planning this event I ran into a lot of doubt, snotty shop owners, and no financial support what so ever. Nevertheless I was able to bring it together by registering my friends shop. A 75 dollar fee was well worth the money. The shop owner was gracious enough to help me team stickers and tinted my car for free too.

The next hurdle we faced as a team was the Trophy cost they are not cheep! The way I approached this is I ardently requested the shops to send their installers to the event with one request if your shop hands out any type for business cards you must donate to the raffle. This worked we had a large enough raffle to pay for the large trophy cost!!!

Always about Gods work in some fashion I hosted the event at my church. It worked out GREAT. All 80 parking stalls were full along with 20 or so cars on the lawns. The Youth department opened up our on site coffee lounge "Holy Grounds" and the proceeds went to support their work. All of the Guest were impressed to say the least. I did not hear one single word negative ALL DAY!

To explain the sore all over I worked hard all day at the event being a gracious host and cleaning up the venue after. Furthermore, I got my crx out of the paint shop the day before and stayed up the night before to just get all of the equipment installed. I went to the event with a untested vehicle with a new sub wired down to a lower load than I normally use and fussed out 3 times before getting to my highest db level for the car 147 is there with the current setup but I have to run a higher class fuse. More over the 147 was just a drop in no testing at all. I expect to be near 150 prior to changing to the new amp which is 5 times more power than I am running now.

I did build a power wheels and we took First in that one. Other things to be sore about is the team choked in 3 classes. My team mates purchased 2 warhorses and both of them ran into issues. 1st one was afraid to run below a 2 ohm load so he borrowed 2 smaller amps nonetheless I believe he took 2nd. The other warhorse teammate ran into tuning and fusing issues of which both were rookie moves. First issues so everyone doesn't run into it the gains on the warhorse are backwards!!! Second you can't get away with 180 amps of fusing!

All in all everyone had a blast! Cars kept running all day and into the night we didn't end the runs until 8:30 at night because of the re-runs. Thank you Chop and the rest of IAK for showing me love and encouraging me as I build our family on the West Coast.

:dancing::drink40::fing34::woot: GREAT STUFF BRO! Glad to hear the event was such a success. Nice score for a straight drop in the night before an event. Looking foward to seeing what you can get out of the setup with some tweaking and mic time.

West Coast IAK FTW!!

I don't normally link to other forums but this time it should be OK. A special notice by KEMO who has been to 90 percent of all meca events since it's introduction in California. With no further adieu <<<<Click the link for videos

You should have just posted the vids here. I was about to send porkchop vids of my runs since our cars are similar.

We are hosting another event in conjunction with Nocturnal car club. This is the same club that somehow got the manufacture ALPINE to host their event last month that I went to. Anyways we already have 20 competitors who have promised to attend and most likely all of them will because they are all local. Nonetheless, I'm hopping we can attract 30 more in the lanes if we can do that I should have the funds to host a 3x event (either finals or the comp right before finals)!
