2 sa8 v1.5 or one v2

Recommended Posts

I plan on running either one sa8 v2 or two v1.5s. They both would end up being about the same price ordering the 1.5s from woofercooker reconed. These will be going in a 4th order band pass. My question is are the v2s so much of an improvement that I should get one of those or would two 1.5s be louder? I was too focused on 18s while the whole sa8 train was going around so I missed all the info on them. Thanks.

Exactly what I was thinking, just needed some confirmation.

What exactly are your goals? How much space do you have to work with?

I'm looking for most output with 1,000 rms or less. I was running into electrical issues with my old system so I had to tear it all out.

Oh and I have the whole back of my escape to work with.

You should not be looking at 8's then.

What do you suggest? The 8s just appealed to me because they require little space and power.

You can get much louder for the same price. Buy a single 12 or 15 within your budget and you will be happier in my opinion. It just depends on your goals and the room you are willing to sacrifice. What is your budget?

My budget is 200 for an amp and 200 for a woofer, I can go a little over if needed. I'd like to use the least space possible but a fourth order sounds like a good project.

4th order bandpass? If so why?

Guess I won't be going with a fourth order then. What do you suggest then within my budget and under 1000rms? I'm looking for loudest possible.

What are the real advantages of fourth order anyway?

One 15" Gcon or Sa would be great.

It will take a while to decide between those two... But how about an amp now?

Would that amp be harder on electrical versus a different amp with the same power at two ohms?

As the others have said, in the space you have to work with you have significantly better options than one or two 8's in a bandpass. A pair of 12's or single 15" in a standard ported would be much better options in every regard.

IMO decide on subs first, then purchase an amp. Leave your options open so you can purchase the amp based on the final load of the subwoofers you select.

Well looking at the woofers I'm probably going with the GCON because of the 3inch coil, and then the AQ750. Thanks Rick!
