Box Orientation Question

Recommended Posts

I have spent the last few weeks playing with the orientation of my sealed subwoofer box in my trunk and found the best orientation (to my ears anyway) I am now designing a ported box and was wondering if the optimal orientation will change sealed vs ported? Here is the current orientation:

Yes it will change, sub (facing front or back), port to the side tends to be optimal in trunks.

So I should face my sub toward the back and my port toward the side?

Not to be argumentative, but I've always went with sub back/ port back and thought it sounded best in trunks. However, if your seats fold down and you can manage a good box build then subs and port forward.

Subs back port back has been what has worked out best for the boxes ive built and tested for trunks for daily setups. Some people have more luck facing subs and port forward but loading will play a big role

I appreciate the feedback. since I am only running one driver I decided to take the time and tweak the design so I could play with the orientation and see which I like best. Finally came up with something I am happy with this afternoon. I will post pics when it is done.
