***** SPL 12 Pre-Order *****

Recommended Posts

Chad- not sure if you have already posted it somewhere else, but what did you think of the SPL 12? I know you have a lot of experience with some hardcore drivers.

Well the one I played with was a prototype, and with 1st stage protos there are always changes to be made ( the ones that raised the cost that extra 30 or so dollars :) ) If those changes did what they were supposed to do it will be a rediculously loud, SPL sub. If they didnt do that much you still cant beat it for the price. After all you can buy 2 of em for the price of 1 mt lol. I'd love to get one of the new ones to play with cause it was a baddddd sub :)

Thanks for posting those extra pictures Chad - good stuff.

Yeah, as Chapter mentioned, this unit would like a fairly large box, and will get a real nice peak going for that added output. The impedance slope between resonance and port tuning is nice and steep, so you'll get great output from both driver and port.

I will have to double-check my numbers but I believe Xmax to be around 17mm.

Best,

Mark

Looks very impressive and at an incredible price. Good luck with this one Mark, though I'm not sure you'd need it.

3.5 cf tuned high. What exactly is tuned high 35, 38, 40, 45?

also the coils are D2, but is that nominal or DCR?

thanks

Wow I had forgotten about this driver completely. Is it worth getting for a sick loud daily driver? I am thinking of getting a saz3000d and a single 12" that will handle it daily. Then I saw this and its like damn thats perfect.

Yes no?

That would depend on what your car resonant frequency would be. But the higher you tune, the higher the output peak will become. If you want heavy bass for daily tune it for 35Hz; for the lanes, probably 40 - 45Hz.

The config is 2 * 2 Ohm nominal; the DCR is 1.8 Ohms per coil.

Best,

m

Yes no?

I should be getting a commission for every SAZ amp sold to drive these...

I don't know the output of this amp you mention, but I'm assuming its 3kw into 1 Ohm. If you want loud, this driver will do it for you.

Best,

m

Mike can you tell us how much it will cost after the preorder because I know I won't be able to get in on that, bein as I don't start my new job for a month or two.

The box is 52hz. I am wondering if I could go larger or just need to hop up to 4 of them next year.

Im wondering how much port area yall went with in a 3.5ft^3 box......with a 52hz tuning I imagine it was around 60 - 80in^2 probably closer to 80??

If my job pulls through which it should. I'll be ordering one of these and a saz3000d with my first check. This is my first REAL job and the money is kind of mind boggling. I'm going to treat myself to some really nice gear. This single 12 should be stupid.....

How does two saz3000 strapped on a pair of these sound? MWUAHAHAHAHHAHA

How do these drivers respond to lower tuning? 52 hz is a little high for daily listening (as is 3.5 cf for a 12" sub).

Hope it likes high tuning... I'll have mine up around 74hz :D
