Remote Start

Recommended Posts

For those who live where it gets stupid cold ...

Or for those in Arizona/Texas/Florida that are lazy ...

Or for those who got it as a side with their security system ...

What unit are you using?

So like sure, there are a few newer models on the market with some more bells and whistles but...

She still works! And the car isn't the only thing she can start! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :twirl:

VIPER 5900, 1 Mile range. We sell those btw ;) pm me for prices

Same here. My car shop told me the remote for the Viper 7900 is a hassle as you have to charge the thing everyday so they recommended the 5900.

Not using, but worked with enough installers here in vancouver to know that anything besides compustar is not worth it.

The features alone pretty much makes them worth it, never mind the crazy range.

Plenty shops around here sell them, as well as visions and i think future shop. Gotta love certified warranties

Lazy? At least when it's stupid cold you can put on more clothes. When it's 120 outside, there ain't shit you can do. Most car's AC isn't even up to the task. It will only make it almost bearable.

CompuStar Pro P2W9000FMR here

- Voltage display on remote

- Internal vehicle temperature display (to let me know when the a/c is at the right temp for entry ;))

- Cold and hot starting with temperature

- Turbo Timer (extendable with remote)

- Time start set on remote by user

Cant beat that!

i guess the thing i dont get is, why pay so much for an alarm.

I have an inwells alarm...2 way remote start ect ect.

I paid like 70$ for mine put it in myself.....and it has all the features anyone would want.

so y pay so much?

p.s.

about to sell the car, so in the market for a new one.

$70 for a 2-way wow! Good deal there if it works as well as you say it does. I didn't spend the $589 that mine retails for, so it wasn't that expensive.

from my experience, compustars are no where near the quality of a viper or DEI product...i had to install a compustar alarm and it wouldn't work! the range was horrible and the shock sensor didn't even work out of the box....but then again i have heard their high end stuff is great so i'd assume Kickins would be prettty kick ass...

personally i love the viper's or DEIs....

no matter what you go with, let us know how it turns out...

and yes helotaxi, i am lazy...i hate the cold more than anything

Any experience with NuStart or AutoStart brands?

The big difference between the NUS1000 / AS1755 vs. the Viper 160XL is the range. Looking at $170 / $200 vs. $230 installed, with ranges being 1500ft / 2200ft vs. 1 mile. I think I'll take a look at the Viper unit just to be backed by the name and extra range.

IME, advertised ranges are usually extremely bloated, perfect scenario ratings
