something went DREAD WRONG with my math,

as i figured the box to be tuned too 52Hz and it was hitting @ about 120Hz & 36/45Hz range :suicide-santa:

never got it over 146.6db :bull:

Back to the Drawing board

as for the SunDown pics on the amps :slayer:

i took those @ lake Texoma as the sun went down and i use it to cut the Sundown Logo for my front window decals

i tried to tune it the way i do a regular ported box,

i added the displacement of the known object

( the sealed side of the box and then tuned the open side as i would any other ported boxx ) :(

Guess i need to read up on how to do the 4th order banpass before giving it another try ???

but i did leave myself an out if i F-ed up the Lid of the box is removable with a lil tweeking i can correct my mistake and try later

assuming i can find out where i screwed up

I need Help :(

It's the first time me and Brian and Cody built something like this. We made a wrong calculation somewhere...but stuff happens and we'll eventually get it right.

When we do get ti right though....watch out... :neil:

Their are always going to bumps in the road...especially when this is the 1st time we have tryed this type of box...But we will go back to the drawing stages and get it right... :drink40:

Use a 5:1 ratio.

1 cuft sealed chamber, to 5 cuft ported chamber.

You only need .5 sealed for that moofer and that would give you 2.5 in the ported chamber.

Do say 60sqft of port, tuned to 5hz less than peak.

Couple major things that make no sense. You forgot the second chamber and a 4th order won't buy you what you are looking for as it will be quieter than a ported enclosure.

i was thinking for the fun of it i will convert it to a TL box or folded horn using the SoundStream SplX 12" Quad coil :)

any ideas ? no sense in wasting the MDF, just a few mods and i think it will work :)

If you have enough scrap wood for an extra box, build a bandpass for the 12.

Go 1 cube sealed, 1.25 ported, with about 40 sq in of port tuned to around 55hz.

sounds good :)

i think i f-ed up by having the door open yesterday...

i forgot BP needs a sealed car/truck :(

perhaps yo can steal some area to the box adding more wood or something inside the chambers, to bad it didnt work, it suxs to spend the cash on the box and it doesnt work, but hey this is spl trial and error...good luck on the next one, or on the remodelation of this one :)

you should never meter with the door open anyways!!!

If you're going the "different" enclosure route, your best solution is likely a 6th order bandpass...still very big, but smaller than an 8th order and more practical than a horn or TL for your application. If well designed and well built, the limitation becomes how much current the coil can handle.

Of course, it is even more complicated than the design of a 4th order, so you might be out of luck in that regard.

Im glad you know so much about bandpass, and built so many of them.
