Loudest in 4 cubes?

Recommended Posts

I know that the q's aren't meant for that but i'm pretty sure 3 would get loud, correct? and i do know that the q's are low end monsters

what about the icons?

The Q's and Icon's are both great drivers. Both will sound great sealed and have loads of output, but it is all relative. I get the feeling BL ported would be more suited for your goals.

Your neighbor can't fit a bigger box ?

Your best choice is to try a 12" sub.

How can people tell you to get an 18" ?!!

He wants loud and low with $1500 : it's easy for a newbie to be happy with so much $.

If you don't worry for the electrical part, get a 2000 watts amp(at 1 ohm) and one 12" sub like a Fi BTL or a Sundown Z (don't know if they make Z12?), or some Incriminator Audio sub( Death row, or Death penalty).

Take a look at the ssa store to see what is available.

The Sundown saz 2000 is a great amp, but you can use a cheaper one like Audopipe, Audioque or some Cadence.

1 12" level 5 with two audiopipe 3ks if you use slot port.

1 15" level 5 with two audiopipe 3ks if you use aeroport.

And you should have some money left over for the DC Power alt. ;)

2 10 BLs would work nice in that space. And how new is he to car audio? like this is his 1st system?

He got a lot of informations!

He needs to work a little !

For a first system, he should try to start with one sub and one amp. He will see what he wants to improve later. He does not have to spend all the money, he'd better keep some for all the wiring, accessories, box, battery(?), ...

A good h u can be necessary too.

here's what we might go with

2 12" bl's/audioque 2200d

3 1508's/sundown 1500

15" btl/audioque 2200d

12" xcon/sundown 1500

still gotta do some more research but it'll be between those 4

front stage will be 2 sets of pioneer prs comps and an alpine pdx 4.150

Posted Today, 07:07 PM - the universe is telling you to go sealed lol. There's a large difference in efficiency between a BL & BTL, even on 1000W the BTL should be louder than the BL, and the +50 sq.in. of cone area going to 2 12" BL's probably won't make up for the loss. You can put more power to a BTL. Can you make your space any bigger for a BTL 18 in 6 cubes @ 35hz on 3k? Don't forget that the lower you tune the louder it'll be to the ear, big difference between 150 @ 45hz & 147 @ 30hz. You should have said your fav. frequency, if I missed it.

I'd bet a Soundstream XXX 15 in 4 cubes on 10k would be the loudest.

If you can afford it, 2 12" BTL's on the AQ2200D would probably be the loudest, more cone, efficiency, and motorforce. Power compression wouldn't be as much and they'd last a lot longer, but you'd need like 5.36 cubes total.
