Quick build of box for SA-8 in center console

Recommended Posts

Okay, so as I'm waiting for my SA-8 to get here (as patiently as I can!) I'll put the build of my center console box for it. It's an old beater minivan for my everyday vehicle, but I'm just trying to have some fun. I don't have the area or tools to do the kind of work I'm used to being able to put out (maybe I'll share some of those pics sometime) since I'm working on some flimsy stands with a jigsaw, circular saw, and sander, but it'll do for this project. And so I begin...

The wood...good old 3/4" MDF start.jpg

I'll post more in a bit, my 5 year old daughter decided to show me her new goldfish...by taking it out of the tank and carrying it in her hands upstairs to me! :trippy:

Well the goldfish has survived...so here's some more...

Back piece...sub will be firing down, about 4" off floor. Worked great with a cheap 12 I had in there...

I'm going to be adding a Lexan window to view that little beast, and of course clean up the edges and cover it...

It probably won't in the box I'm building, it's tuned at about 37....but hoping it sounds good with pretty good output!

WooHoo to the mini-van installs!!! I like the way you matched the curves of the dash and seperated the sections of the enclosure like that so you could do an external port firing forward hidden by the front section, VERY well thought out IMHO. Looking forward to seeing more of your install work dude!

Thanks...actually, just uploaded a bunch of pics into my gallery earlier. They are mostly pics from working at a shop for about 10 years from 1992-2001

I've done a down firing eight with a forward firing port once before in the Tacoma I did it in it really loaded well off the firewall

That was kind of my aim...a nice "up front" sounding bass. I had a 12 in the center sealed, and for a cheap su it sounded pretty good so I'm hoping this 8 is all people say it is and I'll be really happy!

I am anxious to hear your review on the SA-8.

Box is looking good :)

Thanks, I definitely will give a thorough review. I used to build a lot of vehicles to compete in USAC (full SQ and SPL) and a little IASCA so I have heard quite a few good setups. Plus heard some great cars from other big-time competitors in the past too.
