Box design for Zcon 18

Recommended Posts

Well I think Im goin to go with a Zcon 18 for my trailblazer. I have enough room for the 18 but what would be best for the box size and tuning. I know 6 to 8 cubes is optimal with 31-37hz tuning but what have you done or do you think is the best? Also how should I have the sub and port face? I'm pretty sure sub up port back. For amp and electrical, I have a crescendo BC2k and a deka 9a31 in the back.

I'm not going for numbers, just straight daily. I listen to mostly rap and that's what I want it to sound best with. My max dimensions are 46w x 32.5d x 20h. thanks in advanced and if you need anymore info please ask.

sub up port/back and tune to 33hz

Go with the larger box if space isn't a concern.

Why not the Xcon?

Wouldnt the zcon have more output than the xcon?

I'd do the ZCON 18" sub up port back if you have the room to keep the port away from the back wall 8"-10"

6³-7³ with 18² of port per cube of box. 38Hz tune. That's 1/2 my box and my ZCON's Love It.

Ok so I'm thinking 7 to 8 cubes wit 18inches per cube with 32 Hz tuning?

Don't need to tune that low.

1. With big ports they play low as is.

2. TB's resonance is around 42Hz. So tuning low is like pissing in the wind.

What would be good tuning then?

I do too. I'm tuned to 40Hz and play down to 28Hz easily.

The biggest part of that will be is if your truck is ready for it.

What do you mean ready?

The vehicle will flex around the woofers. Which will mess your lows up.

So you mean deadening the truck? If so I currently do not have any but I will soon.
