Good news... I got the Kicker ZR600 today. It looks awesome! The first thing I did was take the bottom cover off and inspected the guts...beautiful! I hooked up the DMM and o-scope and set the gain. I set it to 60V (it didn't start to clip until around 70'ish). I hooked it up to the ICON and did some freeair. WOW!!! This is going to be great. Now for the not great news but I can deal with it news... When the ICON was digging deep, I heard some squeaky/whining noises coming from the amp. I still had the bottom cover off and it was elevated so I could hear it well. It sounded like it was coming from the caps in the center of the board. I emailed a guy that's going to fix my ZR1000 to see if he could verify what the issue/noise is and fix it. I can understand if the caps are going bad. This is an older amp. Anyways, I should have this up and running once the ZR600 gets "touched up". On with the pics...

Can we assume you've turned the sub down to see how that works. Would be step one.

The difficulty here is that the install can make a turd of a component sound better than the C5's. We understand that you have put in the effort to install them as you see fit, but normally gains are found in that process. Without knowing what you learned and how you set things up it is hard to make that judgement call. Let's assume you are right and your install is perfect. That would make you the absolute first person that has come onto the board that asked about improving midbass that didn't have huge gains possible in the install. Let's put optimism in the case here and assume the install is perfect. To fix it then we need to understand what you are defining as midbass. Once we know that we can offer solutions.

Here are some pics of the box. I still have to insert the t-nuts and fill in the screw holes. I think it'll be pretty sturdy for the ICON.

Can't go wrong with soundqubed if your on a tight budget, a few hundred dollars could have you a sub stage, and if you like the factory radio you could get a line output converter and just use the stock mids, and add a sub stage, as it will be the most noticible change. Then later you could always upgrade a piece at a time. Second thing I would do is change your factory speakers, then after that you could get a amp for your mids, highs.

    Another shot of the gauges:

Didn't realize how heavy the subs were until I had to lift them up to put them in the box!!

are you trolling again? lol So how much experience have you had with SSA drivers? (hands on) I only ask because your judgement might be completely biased. Seeing as how many of us members here and other audio sites have had experiences with both I'm sure you can find out quite the opposite of that statement. I for one would but my Xcon against a w7 any day of the week. But in all honesty if your install is perfect then the equipment is up to preference at that point... Shame on you man! lol (waiting to see who else chimes in now)

You got everything but head units and crossovers but I was talking mostly about all ssa subs, mids, highs, and amps with my usual alpine head unit. Oh and wire I guess to. I normally run passive in my cars so I wouldn't need a dsp anyways. I have ran active but not in a while. The pic of the S/10 with 20's was a active front 2 way but I mostly did it because I couldn't build a big sub stage in a single cab without doing a blow through so I focused more on sound quality.

I have no idea how they sound, that's what I was saying. I hope when I get mine it can sound as good as my JL, and hit as hard as my sundown's, but that's a lot to ask of any sub from any company. The only ones I have heard where in prefab boxes on very low power, so I'm hoping there half as good as everyone says. Sorry if I'm off topic I was responding to Aaron's quote about a all SSA system.
