ALWAYS buy a used bike NEVER new. Just make sure you know how to fit the bike.

Dad just got a new trek 29er, different geometry, doesn't have as much back issues now.

There is a rockhopper on craigslist for a bearable price at the same size as my old beauty.

What did you have, what size do you think you need, and what price?

I had a Rockhopper, heavy but durable bike that lasted me a long time. Size wise I am between a 19" and 20". Price, I would like to stay under $250 as I am not able to ride as serious as I used to, don't have the cash to really invest in something serious, and just need something quality and durable like my old Specialized.

Suspension or no? Preferred type of shifters?

Back issues are from a bad fit, not the new geometry.

Well he went from a 17.5" frame 26" wheel to a 19" frame 29" wheel and it's an improvement.

Either way the new bike is nice, we looked locally and didn't find anything decent for sale to be honest.

Frame and wheel size are independent of fit. Lots of different ways to fit a bike, but his back was sore from his position on the frame not the geometry. Geometry affects handling, not fit (ie you can fit any geometry as long as you pick the right size -- within reason of course as someone might make a custom frame that has an absolutely stupid geometry but I think you get the point).

Yep. I should have clarified too, 29er bigger frame for back issues, and different geometry for handling was his plan.

Bars too low, top tube too long both create back problems. Strange saddle positions as well.

He started the whole thing. If he wants me banned then have denim do it. I spent the money on this forum in the SSA store not the leach.

If you have problems with each other, keep it off the forums. If it escalates to a level needing attention, we will take care of it, no matter who needs to go or be reprimanded, paying member or not. This isn't Jerry Springer.
