before I asked if they needed breakin and you answered that they do not.

How is it that these don't need breakin and 1508 need to be broken in for about a month before going all out?

Subs do not need to be broken in, the suspension will loosen up the more you play it. Some people take it easy on there subs when they first get them and the easier you are on your sub then the longer it will take for the suspension to loosen up.

Because DD is full of it.

Supposedly because of the way they make their spider lamination with multiple thin spiders with the leads in between it needs time to "settle" together. I don't use DD products so I couldn't tell you how accurate that is.

We use a double layer nomex spider with flat leads on top so any settling happens on our test bench (the spiders are SUPER stiff from the factory) -- we crank them up on a 1500D free air at nearly full bore and get the initial break-in of the spider done. After that they will soften up a bit with regular usage but not a whole lot.

Another question for you guys.

The subs are rated at 400 RMS. I think someone said in another thread that they could handle 600 rms daily.

What do you find is the sweet spot?

What is the max rms you think these could handle daily?

I will have 2 of these hooked up to an SAE-1200D which claims to hit 1500rms at around 12 v

If you have to ask this question then stick with rated rms of 400 rms but it will really come down to your enclosure so those details would help answer your question more accurate.

I'll leave it at this for the max power question... if you break one of these you were trying.

I'm always down to learn how I can figure this stuff out. That's why I posted the question on a learning forum.

My enclosure is 1.75 cf tuned to 36hz.
