ported doorpods

Recommended Posts

cause the old one just wasn't working, at all, either the tweeter was sitting where it would be blocked by dash, the port was too close to a wall for me to be comfortable, or the port would interfere with the fleece when I stretch it, looking like chit and possibly having negative effects on the airs ability to get through the port noise free...

Sucks.

Just fill those "holes" and then take a pic for us ;)

Opinions, ESP. from the really experienced SQ guys, is 60hz low enough or should I be aiming somewhere in the 50's?

This is mostly guesstimation for me, so if anyone has a better idea of what I should be aiming at, please tell me.

One suggestion that I would like to make is that you play them to make sure the angles are right before you glass it all up. Just hot glue it in place w/ some dowels. Nothing like finishing up some really time consuming door pods to find out that they don't sound good.

Looks great so far. You have great router skills. Only things I would do differently would be to have the tweeter on the opposite side of the driver closest to the front of the car. You may have it like this, but to me, it appears the baffles are designed so that the tweets will be behind the woofer. You want them in front and out of the way of any obstacles. Also, you will want to angle them as well, not on the same FLAT plane as the woofer. Trial and error here. Don't worry about the drivers being close together. That's exactly what you WANT to do.

Let me know how these sound, cuz they are on my list of possibilities.

THANK YOU!!!! That is EXACTLY the information I've been trying to get for the last 2 days!

So far, you've contributed the most useful tid bits.

(Not knocking on anyone else, I just really needed this info)

on a side note, that's a saw and a dremel...

our 25 year old router > me

Re-ran the wire in today, and in traditional fashion (i nunno how to spell that...) I over compensated... greatly...

jun160053ub.th.jpg

Then I decided that I'd patch that stupid ass cancer hole behind my rear wheel... goodbye moisture problem...

jun160017qz.th.jpg

jun160021yl.th.jpg

Nothing but the best for this hunk o metal... maybe I'd have considered body work if it had under 200k on it... but it doesn't, so no.

I've officially got 2 outta 3 for this project... all I need now is a hard kick in the jewels and I'll have blood, sweat, AND tears... (Noah, don't even think about it... I'll park the car on you if you try it...)

jun160035ex.th.jpg

How could that ever happen????

jun160049es.th.jpg

I'm lazy and only got MOST of the glass out when the trash can pwnt my window...

Plans for tomorrow... cut the hell outta the passanger door, tape it off, glass the rear mold, let it cure.

Hook the crossover up to the amp up to the speakers and get the imaging for them down right.

Trim the passanger pod back, cut the baffles out and sand them all awesome like and if there's time mount them and stretch the fleece.

Otta be a fun day... hopefully 1/2 of that will get done... doubt it....

Only retards get cut shen deading

My hands get all kinds of chopped up when I install deadening. But I do all of the application with my hands, I've had better results vs. using a roller. That foil backing is sharp.

Ask Noah, I'm not a deadening tard...

you = teh wrong :idiot: (I know, you don't care)

:poop:

Screwdriver handle works better than a roller too.

If you get cut from that stuff you are obviously not paying attention.
