So far I can't say I'm overly excited about the new job, the team seems to be composed of stereotypical computer programmers, not a lot of talk during work hours, everybody goes to lunch when they please (unlike at Emerson where we would go in groups of at least 4). Hopefully it's just the first impression and it will change either with time or when I see my first paycheck.

Yeah, I left a good job about 5 months ago to try something new. I am terribly unhappy right now. I went from an hourly shop foreman/manager to a simple commissioned tech. I was honestly tired of doing all the drivability and electrical work, and being stuck figuring everything out on difficult cars, plus managing work flow, dealing with salesmen, dealing with techs, and basically being hammered by upper management and the techs. The pay here is far short of what was promised, and the bossman is a total dickhead.

 

Hopefully it comes with a big pay raise and fewer idiots.  

 

Yeah, it will be close to my best paying job. It is a salaried position with a bonus structure, and I will be shop foreman. The shop is actually quite progressive, very large, and well staffed. I know a few of the techs from training classes... 2 of them are not much to speak of from a drivability standpoint, but one of them is pretty sharp. As far as mechanical abilities, I would have to assume they are strong just based on the shop's reputation.

 

A second interview over dinner strikes me as a very good sign.

to get a hold of, their product and customer service is unmatched. Dave
and Kyle are doing a great job.

 

guys built my order and had it ready for me to pick up at 5 when you
closed, mind you I placed the order at 3pm. No complaints from my end!
Custom means not mass produced. If you want the best, you gotta be
patient!
