Buying an extra beater for mpg worked out for me, back when gas was $4 a gallon and I was driving 128 miles a day round trip. I paid $1200 for the car, the gas savings paid off the car in the summer of work and I kept it for another 3-4 years, put about another $6-700 in repairs over the time, and sold it for $1000.

33k miles a year and your not a product rep??!??!?!

 

 

It was in college for a summer internship. I could stay at a friends, or drive an extra 15 minutes home and have free food and my own room.

Says the guy who has a good portion of the intake off his truck atm.  Fucking fuel rail keeps popping off the rear injector. sad.png

 

New clips, perhaps? We ran stock clips on race GNs with 150 pound pumps.

 

It has two screws holding the whole rail on.  The screws push down on an L bracket.  You can adjust the pressure on the rail by of course tightening the L bracket down first.  Perhaps this is mechanic error as I tightened those down first and then put on the fuel rail assuming that would be tight.

 

This time they are very evenly tightened down so if it pops off again (has 2x) I'll assume something is defective.  Could easily be me.  I will add that on the first two times you learn REALLY quick that these should have been snugged before plopping the charger on top.  After making some tools (shortening a 5mm allen, bending a 10mm box end) I can get at it real fast now.  Speed in this case I assume will also mean consistency as I wasn't constantly swearing at the dumb ass design.

You can see the peeing gas.  Look right at the W on the Whipple fuel rail and you'll see the blue fuel injector gasket.  Obviously that isn't supposed to be exposed, lol.  First time you couldn't see shit, but smell it real good.  This time both obviously.

I had a weird backfire that I thought was before or during when it popped off this last time.  Of course I could see that if it isn't getting fuel on the back cylinder that something would get fucked up.  Computer ought to see that as lean and cycle up the others.

Used to bug me, but if you think that is an excessive use of zip ties you should see my snowmobiile.  Probably 150 of them, lol

I have some black ones, but they aren't anywhere near as strong as those.  Not sure where I got those white ones but they are uber tough.

It had a talk highway gear and that average is rush hour.

It got 13 when she was healthy. 13 highway or 13 in town. It just didn't matter

I get 10 in town/highway in town, but on long journeys when you just go 80 I can get closer to 20. I still have a problem with the gas pedal being used on the highway though so it is normally closer to 15 there, but gas is not an expense I pay attention to.

There no way you could get 20mpg if you got that thing on the highway and just set the cruise at 80 for most of a tank.

 

I averaged 22 after the supercharger on a 50 mile ride.  Tail wind and flat though.  Closer to 70 

 

Hand calculated or computer?

 

At 65-70 I can believe 20-22, after that, that wind sail picks up a lot of resistance.

Just got a strong deal on .40 165gr Critical Defense. 2 cases of 200 for $360.

 

Grabbed up a couple "battle" (thousand) packs of target 9mm  and .40 for practice, too.

Understatement.  It is lame.  These aren't them but the brackets and mechanism are identical.

I've got them as tight as they get.  Hopefully that isn't angling them too much.  Would be not so funny if the cure was to attach them with less pressure.  Hope it stays down this time.

Amusingly I traded cars with my wife today too.  I asked her how driving the Big Ugly was and she complained about its size for a few minutes.  No comment on the motor, suspension, brakes, lol

It is big and ugly, therefore I call it the Big Ugly.  Not sure what the Cadillac crew was smoking when they designed it.  A few very minor changes and the truck could be nice, but alas no cigar.

 

If you'd prefer I call it the Gross Ugly using a play on French I could on here, but the rig has been named.

Not bad pricing. I need more target ammo for my .45, and to get out on the range more. Hopefully before my 31st birthday I'll finally pick up an AR for myself as well.

Glad to see all the car talk lately, but I have to ask a photography related question. What do all of you use for editing? Aside from needing to get a new laptop (2010 Toshiba is losing battery life extremely quickly, and it is slower than pond water) I want to get some new editing software.

Noise has been killing my photos lately, and the current software I have is not as great for me as it once was.

Lightroom. Lightroom. Lightroom.

Photoshop is better but it's slower and you need to know more to the most out of it.

Lightroom is basically a digital darkroom. Noise can be cut or made to look pleasant in seconds.

Lightroom is what I have been looking at. I'm hoping I can get a school discount, but I know my current laptop will not properly support it.
