Pretty sure I have a dry socket..... ugh....

Dry socket ?

Wisdom teeth, pain and suckage.

Crap...I want to pull mine out. Guess I'll stockpile on booze and get myself drunk if major pain comes along.

Worth it in the end. The damage they can cause if not taken out is much more than just getting them out.

Good news is I am feeling a lot better. I think the hydrocodone was making me crazy or something.

Mark is at CES right now, and I am again stuck here. I am so fucking sick of not being able to travel. Good news is, I have already begun the process to fix that.

Aaron, if you want to go next year I'll make a pact and split a room with ya. I've been wishin' and hopin' and dreaming to go to CES for years.

Mark and I plan to probably both go next year, maybe we can get a bunch of us together and get a schnazzy suite (ala hangover sans tiger). ;)

In!

If only I could fly down there for CES :D

Wonder how much it would cost.

Not a horrible amount but visas and stuff are more of a problem.

Maybe in a few years...

This year I'm going to be looking for Master's scholarships across the pond.

If you find anything in Texas interesting let me know and I'll do whatever I can for ya.

What happens if you don't pull them out? I have one fully healed and no pain. And another on the way...

They are only a problem if they grow in funny. Mine were sideways growing into the back of my other teeth.

A doc can take a scan of your teeth and tell you real quick.

Dry socket ?

Background: I got my wisdom teeth removed

When you get them removed if the cavity doesn't fill up with dried blood then you are left with exposed jaw bone and nerves = hella pain.

However, I went to the Dr. this morning and he said its not a dry socket, I'm just still experiencing pain since my teeth were so deeply impacted. He said to continue doing what I'm doing and gave me a paste I can apply if things get bad.

Dry socket can also be from the scab falling of prematurely. This is why they tell you not to smoke or use a straw.

Did they knock you out Kader? You never know how much bone got ripped out with the teeth if they did.

Hells yeah they did!

One of my friends dad is a dentist and his dad did the surgery and they kept him awake. He used a mirror to watch what his dad was doing through the whole operation. He is now becoming a surgeon.

Made porterhouse veal steaks last night as well. A little overdone at only rare, but with the w pregnant I didn't want to scare her. Plus at 15F the grill needed more time to preheat if I wanted a finish and still raw in the inside.

I've never had a veal steak like that. When having veal can you cook it less and still get out as much flavor from the bone/fat or is it more deicate so you cook it less than regular steak?

I like my porterhouse usually just above rare. At shitty restaurant I order rare but at home I'll cook my porterhouse/tbone a bit more to get some of the char/bone flavor.

speaking of porterhouse. I saw a method on Good Eats to makeshift your own broiler.

Its a little bit long but I bet you an skip through it to get the idea. What you guys think of this method?

If you have a grill or broiler, why bother?

I was unsure if that might be hotter than using my old smoky because the heat is so concentrated and close.

Hotter is ONLY a benefit for a finish on the outside, then a slower cook for the actual flesh is better. I do like the idea of a ridiculous hot sear followed by a slow cook which is exactly why I paid for a sear burner on my gas grill. :P

I don't know.

Coming from Europe...

I'd pick the East Coast as it actual has a semblance of culture or history. Boston in particular is a hoot. If you are outdoor-zy further North

Or a real city, like Chicago

If CO, I recommend Boulder

If it has to be CA, make it the Bay Area...or similar in Oregon.

There is only one city in Texas and its Austin. Texans may say its not Texas though.

Florida pretty much sucks

North Carolina can be a win as well.

The other thing you left off about the South is by far it has the laziest, most redneck, and despicable humans in the country. Avoid it like the plague. Worth a visit, but not a place to study. I'd also skip New York. If that is your thing, go to Tokyo instead. WAY better.

You raise valid points Sean. The reson for my suggesting these areas is due to the diversity of these areas. He seems to have an idea of what the states may be like and I figure why not give him some of the red-neck fun and or slutty chicks.

But still, your points are much better than mine.

As for skipping New York, if its the city you mean by that then sure. The rest of the state can be okay. Is it always exciting and tons of shit to do? Not really but damn if I dont love it.

Sorry, meant NYC. Thought I implied that enough :)

Euro-whores >>> Southern or redneck whores, I figure a little anti-culture....err, ie geographical fun would be more appropriate considering where he grew up. :)

If Lawrence were a small "uptown" area of Kansas City and not such a drive I would have put it on the list. Considering its not, if it were small town midwest I'd pick either Minneapolis or Milwaukee over it....unless you are addicted to Que.

And Milwaukee is a bit redneck as well. Nice, old, blue collar dump, but its a fun city.

If you just want to party, Madison WI works. There are 10 year olds there that can drink you under the table.
