cone area vs power

Recommended Posts

SO... im trying to gat an idea of what im going to do for my setup in the wagon. I will be walling it off. As some of you know... I bought a new daily driver that I gotta get running. So this build will be after all that is done.

I just want to get an idea of what I will be doing.

my original idea was to go with 4zconsa on 4saz3ks. But I was thinking... would a bunch if Dcons get louder? My goal id obviously to get loud while sound good doing it...that's why im going with SSA. :) I was thinking of doing something like a clamshell if I do the icons. Maybe like 16 12's or 10's. Something like that. Maybe on 2 saz3500s. Just trying to get some opinions. :)

Id go with cone area over power. 16 subs are expensive though.

8 15" Icons? I like the idea of more cone area, but Zcons are so damn sexy!

Wow i would love to see 16 12's that would be one hellova ride :)

i think it would also. :)

well, before shipping, the 4 18" ZCONs would be about $2k and 16 12" DCONs would be about $2k also.

Save some cash and go with dcons.

thats the delima as of now. :) but it seems as everyone agrees on more cone area. so i guess everyone thinks 12-16 DCON 12"s would be louder than 4 18" ZCONs? i know they will all sound good. :fing34:

12 Dcons on 2 saz3k's would be brutal, I love cone area also :D

i think i would go with 16. haha. just because.

hmm, may be a possibilyity...

Cone area > power.

seems as you guys have alll agreed on the dcons. :)

Power is the least effective means of increasing output.

If the options are more power with less displacement or less power with more displacement, the latter option would be the most desirable.

That assumes you have sufficient room for an appropriate enclosure, etc.

I have plenty if room. Its a wagon (see sig) and I will be taking out the back seats.

Lots O DCONS!!!!! I like that idea!!! You could more than likely slim down on the power (2-3500s?).

Depending on your time frame with this install, an FCON is in the future, could be a possible candidate as well. Then the pair of 3500s would be required.

Oooooo...I forgot about those. Hmm that may work also. I plan on starting this after I get my coupe (daily driver) running and swapped to a 5speed. It will probly be around new years. And I will give them a little more than rms. Rather have some headroom. And I know they can take it. ;)
