IRVINE, Calif., April 14 /PRNewswire/ — Toshiba Storage Device Division (SDD), the pioneer in small form factor hard disk drives (HDDs), today strengthened its position as the world's leading manufacturer of automotive-grade HDDs by introducing a new HDD with 200 gigabytes(1) (GB) of storage capacity in a single-platter design.

The 4,200 RPM SATA MK2060GSC is the highest-capacity automotive-grade HDD available and provides vehicle systems manufacturers with the high-capacity storage needed to improve telematics, navigation and entertainment systems, particularly as these systems are being designed to communicate with information and content sources outside the car. This introduction builds on Toshiba's existing automotive product line. As of March 2010, Toshiba has shipped 14 million automotive-grade HDDs to the worldwide market, and had 75 percent global market share(2) for shipments in 2009, according to the company's internal sales data. In addition, IDC has forecast that more classes of automobiles will increasingly offer factory in-dashboard infotainment systems that provide audio, video and a variety of navigation information to passengers beginning in model year 2012(3). Consumer desire for multimedia applications and navigation systems integrated into cars has fueled demand for high-capacity HDDs, ensuring migration of these applications beyond the premium vehicle market and into the mainstream.

The MK2060GSC targets telematics and infotainment applications, in which proven performance and capacity are critical. This product line represents a significant innovation in commercial automotive-grade HDD technology, as it doubles the maximum storage capacity available. Other technical benefits to systems manufacturers include a 78 percent improvement in internal transfer rates compared to equivalent products on the market, as well as a faster seek time of 12 milliseconds and extremely quiet "silent seek" operation of 23dB. These features make the MK2060GSC ideal for multimedia, navigation and in-vehicle video recording applications, which require a combination of high storage capacities and rapid data recall.

In addition to its high capacity, the MK2060GSC offers exceptional reliability. This HDD can withstand altitude variations of -300 to 12,000 meters during non-operating and -300 to 5,650 meters while operating, as well as operating temperatures of -30 to +85°C. My lab has another 2 weeks of having his bottom jaw wired and pinned after running into the UPS truck! Broke his bottom jaw right down the middle after he got caught between the tire and fender.

Spent both my days off fixing/doing shit for the W, and I didn't get a fucking thing done on my door pods. Got the kids playhouse sanded/stained, a winters worth of dog shit picked up, swamp cooler fired up, roof fixed, weeds whacked, lawn mowed, shed cleaned out, made a dump run and made like 10 trips to the hardware store.wacko.gif

Poor dog, atleast he's alive. Must of wanted that tire pretty bad.

My yellow lab has cost me a boat load in vet bill's.

He's such a friendly dog and loves to greet everybody. Problem is he has been deaf since birth and the driver turned as Chase was running along side and well the rest not to sure about other than his jaw and the 3rd layer of his eyelid was tore off! $600+ later and he's good to go rolleyes.gif

Summitracing can go screw themselves, I've found connectors for WAY cheaper than their connectors. And they should ship soon :D

Just need to change 5-6 wires on the backhoe, change the burnt connectors and I'm done with the electrical system.

My Explorer has two cigarette lighters but neither are switched with the ignition, both are always on. Now that I got XM radio as a bday present, I'll need one to be switched so that I don't have to turn on/off the xm tuner every time I get into the car as that would get annoying real fast. I think I'll just splice it into my head unit's ignition power wire though as that looks to be 10x easier than tearing apart half of my dash to rewire one of the sockets.

Guess I should mention the 100hp chip helps a bit too :D

If you take out the EGR you can get a heck of a lot more out of it too. Amazing how much power is locked up in those things.

I may or may not know someone who runs his deisel on used hydrolic fluid that he gets for free from someone else too.

gets about 21mpg too.

Some diesels work ok without the EGR, some don't :(

But there is a lot of power / liter to be made from modern diesels.

Interesting you mention that. I have heard some don'e work so hot without the EGR. Most fellas I know get a tune to to match the fact they took it out. I know the 6 liter turbo from Ford turns into a completely different (as in much stronger, more reliable, more efficient/cleaner) engine without the EGR and other "green" restrictions. Some of the enginears are getting 30+ mpg with the right tune on the fseries super duty's.

I hate all the "green" garbage on big trucks. How is it green when it reduces fuel effiencey by 15%-50%? Kind of like putting up light up bill boards to promote turning off lights when not in use.
