I have been tempted by an R9 or similar... But I have been burned by AMD so many times.....

 

only time i hear about driver issues are on older cards from either manufacturer, crossfire/sli,  or when the game developer gives preference to one manufacturer or the other. 

 

r9's have really great value. could pick up a pair of 290s used and dump them for 800 series when they come out if you go through gear quickly.
