Sounds like a great plan though, doesn't it?

What kind of mounting depth are we looking at with these?

They will certainly hang with the Rl-i, but a little different sound.

Can these little guys actually hit, or move air if you will, like say a 12". I haven't heard any of these new 8"s? Does the huge motor force actually make up for the lack of cone area, or are these just for filling in the lower end of the music signal? Reminds me of the guys in Europe who did 150's, on a butt load of 6x9's!  But could these do decent numbers without having 10 of them? That mostly my question as I have no exsperience with 8" or 10" inch subs.

I'm mainly a Sound Quality competitor, but I have made my rounds in the sound pressure lanes !!!

I've learned that motor structure is more important (to handle brute amplifier power) than cone area to produce awesome numbers on a meter. Well, along with expert enclosure build and vehicle modification ...

So with that being said, these drivers should do really well in the SPL lanes ...

To be fair, a lot of my post are bullshit while arguing with Sean, but please let's all just move forward and let things go.

Really, I honestly didn't think these monster 8's could do much, but cool to know they can. I bet it's fun to see the look on someone's face when they think you got 12's or 15's and you tell them 8's. I always thought it took multiples of these to get loud, like 4-6 8's to equal a couple of 12's.

Hello all and thank you in advance for your help. This will be my first build and I'd like to build a new subwoofer for my home audio system. I'm flexible, but would like somewhere around 800-1000W to drive a 12" sub in a ported box, and to do this I plan to spend somewhere around $500 or so. I don't have a great idea of what a realistic budget is, so I'm flexible, just would like to keep costs down.
I need some help figuring out where to start. Could someone please point me in the direction of some good resources regarding amplifier selection specifically?
      Thank you all.

Quick edit: I'm using an optical connection from my computer to a Yamaha RX-V677 receiver. If anyone has any resources regarding the best connection between the receiver and amplifier, that would also be great.

Hey everyone I signed up here awhile back, but have only been able to lurk here and there. Anyway I'm gonna pull the trigger soon and get a sub stage, but I'm not sure which sub/subs I want to buy. My new sub stage will pretty much be 2 12's in a ported box or maybe one 15 in a ported box depending on how much room I have or don't have..

I've looked through the 12'' subs in the store section from all the brands and a couple of 15's but leaning more towards 12's. My goal for the sub stage is pretty much output/loudness. I need some help/recommendations from you guys please and I'll provide more info if you guys need to know anything else.

Sidenote: Car is a 2011 Ford Fusion SE

      Thanks
